Diseases of the supporting tissues of the teeth [periodontitis/pyorrhoea] are the major cause of tooth loss in India and abroad in this modern world. Recent data shows that Periodontitis if left untreated can not only leads to premature tooth loss but can also affect heart, pancreas and other organs of the body. It can also contributes to many pregnancy problems like low birth weight and premature babies. Literature shows that a completely edentulous individual leads a life which is 10 years shorter than an a individual whose are intact with healthy periodontal support.
Because of the painless nature of the disease the affected individuals tends to over look the problem and seek advice of a Periodontist only at the later stage where the treatment cannot be 100% predictable. In the initial stages periodontitis is almost curable. In the later stages also it is curable but the success depends on the extend of damage to the supporting bone and level of oral hygiene maintenance of the patient. . MDC provides its patients all the recent modalities of periodontal therapies including plastic surgeries like, flap surgery, bone grafting, soft tissue grafting, GTR [Guide tissue regeneration], invisible splinting etc.
